Overview We are supporting a Tier One Bank on a major Data Security Programme , seeking a highly capable Technology Lead to operate at the intersection of Data Engineering and Cyber Security . This is a critical role acting as the technical bridge between both functions-ensuring alignment, clarity, and high-quality delivery across complex, data-driven security initiatives. You will combine hands-on technical depth with strong stakeholder engagement, providing oversight, challenge, and direction to ensure solutions are both secure by design and data-driven by default . Key Responsibilities Act as the technical liaison between Data Engineering and Cyber Security teams Provide end-to-end technical oversight across initiatives spanning both domains Translate complex requirements between teams, ensuring shared understanding and delivery alignment Review and validate architecture, designs, and implementations from both data and security perspectives Drive secure data architecture principles , ensuring controls are Embedded across pipelines and platforms Support programme delivery by identifying risks, dependencies, and technical gaps early Facilitate technical workshops, design reviews, and cross-team collaboration sessions Ensure solutions align with enterprise standards, regulatory expectations, and security policies Contribute to the definition of best practices for data security, governance, and engineering integration Key Skills & Experience Strong experience operating as a Technical Lead/Architect/Senior Analyst across both Data Engineering and Cyber Security domains Deep understanding of data platforms (eg cloud data lakes, warehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines) Strong knowledge of cyber security principles , particularly in data protection, IAM, encryption, and monitoring Experience working on data security or data protection programmes within large, regulated organisations Ability to confidently engage with engineers, architects, and security specialists Proven ability to translate between technical disciplines and align stakeholders Experience working within financial services or highly regulated environments Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and their security models Desirable Experience Exposure to Data Security Fabric/Zero Trust Data architectures Knowledge of tools such as IBM Guardium, Microsoft Purview, Collibra, or similar Experience with AI/advanced analytics security considerations Understanding of regulatory frameworks (eg GDPR, FCA expectations, BCBS 239) Why This Role?
