Vehicle & Plant Maintenance Technician Location: Wakefield Job Type: Full-time Salary: £32,061 - £34,434 Join our team as a Vehicle & Plant Maintenance Technician and play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing a diverse range of vehicles and plant equipment. This position is essential for ensuring safety, legal compliance, and supporting our Climate Change Action Plan. Day-to-day of the role: Inspect, service, and repair vehicles, plant, and equipment to meet both statutory and internal standards. Utilize both manual and computer-based diagnostic systems (e.g., CanBus, high-voltage systems) to identify faults. Conduct MOTs, taxi tests, roadworthiness checks, and provide breakdown recovery services. Operate a variety of diagnostic and testing equipment while maintaining accurate service records. Perform welding, fabrication, and manufacture parts as required. Drive and operate a range of vehicles and plant machinery. Mentor apprentices and provide support to junior staff. Ensure strict compliance with health & safety regulations, including proper use of PPE. Participate in shift work and provide out-of-hours cover as needed. Required Skills & Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in Motor Vehicle Engineering. Experience or awareness of maintenance for Electric/Hybrid Vehicles. Valid Category B driving licence (Category C LGV is desirable). Manual handling training. Desirable qualifications include MOT Tester Certification, and licences for forklift, crane, abrasive wheel, and chainsaw. NVQ Level 4 or BTEC in relevant disciplines is a plus.
