Mill Operative
Location: York
Pay: £17.00 per hour + Overtime paid at 1.5x
Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts (rotating days and nights)
We are currently recruiting for a Mill Operative to join a busy multispecies animal feed mill based in York. This Mill Operative role is ideal for someone reliable, hands-on and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment. As a Mill Operative, you will play an important part in supporting the safe and efficient manufacturing of high-quality animal feed products while working rotating 12-hour day and night shifts.
As a Mill Operative, your responsibilities will include:
- Operating and monitoring feed production processes from the control room
- Loading raw materials and handling finished products
- Supporting batching, mixing and pelleting processes in line with production schedules
- Carrying out routine equipment checks and reporting faults or maintenance issues
- Assisting with raw material intake and finished product bagging when required
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards across the mill
- Completing production records and documentation accurately
- Supporting general mill operations as required
This Mill Operative position would suit someone who is physically fit and comfortable working in a dusty, noisy industrial environment. Previous experience in manufacturing, production or feed mills is beneficial but not essential, and a forklift licence would be advantageous.
