Hours: 42.5 per week Monday to Friday 8.00am - 4.30pm
Salary: £45,000.00 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent Term Time Only
Start: April 2026

About the Role

The SENCo Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring high-quality provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities across the school. This position requires strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and a deep understanding of SEND practice. The SENCo Lead supports staff, pupils, and wider teams to ensure that all students receive the personalised provision, care, and guidance they need to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on the creation, maintenance, and regular updating of student passports, ensuring they remain accurate, relevant, and useful for staff.
• Organise, arrange, and manage the annual review process across the school.
• Coordinate all invitations and scheduling for annual reviews, and act as lead professional during meetings.
• Oversee the organisation and completion of all pre-review paperwork by the appropriate professionals.
• Complete any necessary post-review paperwork and ensure it is submitted to the relevant local authorities.
• Provide reports to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the clinical team regarding issues arising from annual reviews that may impact student placements.
• Lead aspects of whole-school training relating to SEND.
• Work under the guidance and direction of the SLT.
• Support the welfare, development, and behaviour of pupils and staff, modelling effective interventions and enabling access to learning.
• Assist in the accurate implementation and development of school policies, demonstrating high standards in intervention and support.
• Support the development of the Welfare Team so it forms an integral part of the school's support systems.
• Work collaboratively with the wider SENDCo team to ensure all examination access arrangements are completed accurately and on time, with responsibility for ensuring deadlines are met.
• Support the SENDCo team to deliver all duties related to the designated child-in-care teacher role, ensuring tasks are completed professionally and within required timeframes.
• Support staff across the school in implementing Section F of EHCPs and strengthening their understanding and practice around SEND.

About You

The ideal candidate for the role will have the following:

• UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• A Full UK Driving Licence
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) trained.
• Experience working with a wide age range of students.
• Training in TIS (Trauma Informed Schools) or a similar therapeutic approach, or strong working knowledge of trauma informed practice.
