Role - M&E Project Engineer

Location - REMOTE but South of England based (London, Kent, Essex, Sussex, Berkshire)

Salary - Up to 65k + Car

Overview

An established and growing building services consultancy is seeking a Mechanical or Electrical Building Services Project Engineer to join its team in the South of the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects from concept and survey through to completion, working across a diverse range of sectors and building types. They're looking for a client-facing Engineer that has capaibility to manage projects, liaise with clients and contractors You'll spend around 3 days on site and 2 days working from home - No office presence required.



The Role

You will coordinate and manage mechanical and/or electrical building services projects, ensuring compliance with UK regulations, industry standards, and client requirements.

Projects may include refurbishment, upgrades and new installations across commercial and mixed-use environments.

Key responsibilities include:

Design & Technical

  • Developing outline and detailed designs for HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting, power distribution, fire alarms and associated systems

  • Producing feasibility studies, concept designs and tender documentation

  • Undertaking site surveys and inspections

  • Reviewing technical submissions from subcontractors and suppliers

Project Delivery

  • Managing projects to agreed cost, time and quality targets

  • Liaising with clients, architects, contractors and stakeholders

  • Attending and leading project meetings

  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental standards

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensuring works comply with Building Regulations, BS7671 (electrical), relevant BS EN standards and CIBSE Guides

  • Applying sustainable design principles in line with Part L and BREEAM

  • Maintaining accurate project documentation in line with ISO 9001 procedures



About You

You will have:

  • A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering

  • Minimum 5 years' experience within building services project engineering

  • Strong working knowledge of UK Building Regulations and relevant BS standards

  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Amtech, Dialux or similar

  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong communication and report-writing skills

Desirable:

  • Membership of CIBSE, IET or similar professional body

  • Knowledge of BIM processes (ISO 19650 / PAS 1192)

  • Experience with sustainable and renewable technologies

  • Site experience including commissioning and fault finding
