Job Description

Are you a Traffic Control and Safety Officer (TCSO) with experience of working on highways or utility term contracts. If so, then read on!

Our client is a leading tier one highways company experienced in delivering civils works, drainage, machine lay and patching works.

Due to expansion within the business, they are looking for an experienced Traffic Control and Safety Officer (TCSO) to ensure that all low-speed works involving traffic management are carried out safely and in accordance with national highway standards.

Salary to 55k Company Vehicle + Fuel card Pension 25 Days Holiday + bank holidays

Traffic Control and Safety Officer (TCSO) Key Essentials:

  • Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for programming and overseeing the safe installation, operation, and removal of traffic management on low-speed highway and streetwork projects
  • Conduct site inspections and safety audits of temporary traffic management setups.
  • Ensure all traffic management complies with Chapter 8, NRSWA / TMA guidelines and contract specifications
  • Review and verify Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) before implementation
  • Coordinate with site teams to ensure correct deployment of cones, barriers, signage, and signals
  • Review RAMS, identify hazards and ensure suitable risk control measures are implemented for works affecting live traffic
  • Liaise with local authorities, network management teams, and emergency services where required
  • Monitor compliance with streetworks permits and conditions
  • Investigate and report incidents or near misses involving traffic management setups
  • Provide guidance and support to site teams regarding safe working practices on live highways

Traffic Control and Safety Officer (TCSO) Requirements:

  • As a Traffic Control and Safety Officer (TCSO), experience in a similar role on highways or utility traffic management is essential
  • Qualified with Lantra NHSS 12 A, B & D and NRSWA Supervisor accreditation
  • Strong knowledge of temporary traffic management and site safety standards
