Financial Due Diligence consultant with Large Scale Energy Infrastructure investment experience.
Overview
A leading Private Equity firm is seeking an experienced Commercial Diligence Consultant to support the evaluation of a major gas infrastructure investment. The assignment will focus on assessing the commercial viability and financial attractiveness of a large-scale energy infrastructure project, supporting investment decision-making at fund level.
The consultant will combine corporate finance expertise, advanced financial modelling capability, and knowledge of energy infrastructure markets to provide an independent and robust assessment of the investment opportunity.
Working closely with the PE investment team and external advisors, the role will involve analysing project economics, reviewing financial models, evaluating market dynamics, and identifying key risks and sensitivities associated with the investment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct detailed commercial and financial due diligence on a large-scale gas infrastructure project
Analyse the commercial viability and long-term revenue potential of the asset
Review and build robust financial models to assess project returns, sensitivities, and downside scenarios
Evaluate capital expenditure requirements, operating costs, and revenue projections
Assess the risk profile of the investment, including regulatory, market, and operational risks
Analyse gas market dynamics, supply and demand fundamentals, and pricing outlook
Review contractual structures including offtake agreements, transport contracts, and long-term supply arrangements
Work with technical and engineering advisors to ensure financial assumptions align with operational realities
Prepare clear investment committee materials and financial analysis for senior stakeholders
Provide strategic insights into value creation opportunities and potential exit scenarios
Key Skills and Experience
Strong background in corporate finance, project finance, or infrastructure investment analysis
Proven experience conducting commercial due diligence on infrastructure or energy projects
Advanced financial modelling skills, including project finance models and scenario analysis
Experience evaluating large-scale energy infrastructure investments such as pipelines, LNG terminals, storage facilities, or gas transport assets
Strong understanding of energy markets and infrastructure economics
Experience working with Private Equity firms, infrastructure funds, or investment banks
Ability to translate complex financial analysis into clear strategic insights for investment decision-makers
Desirable Experience
Direct experience with gas infrastructure projects or midstream energy assets
Experience supporting investment committee processes for infrastructure funds
Understanding of energy regulation and market structures in Europe or global energy markets
Experience working alongside technical engineering advisors during diligence processes
