Key Responsibilities As a Laboratory Technician, you will: Support routine protein purification activities by following established protocols and standard operating procedures. Maintain mammalian cell cultures, including routine passaging, media preparation, cryopreservation, and management of liquid nitrogen stocks. Assist with general laboratory operations by maintaining a clean, safe, organised, and well-stocked working environment, including communal laboratory areas and shared equipment. Safely manage laboratory waste, including operating glass washers and autoclaves. Prepare routine laboratory reagents, media, buffers, and stock solutions. Contribute to the preparation and updating of risk assessments (RAs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs), and support laboratory users in following safe working practices. Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities and, where appropriate, contribute data for reports, publications, and scientific presentations. Support laboratory inductions and provide guidance on aseptic techniques and tissue culture best practice following training. Participate in routine laboratory inspections and contribute to maintaining compliance with health and safety and quality standards. Assist with basic scientific procedures e.g. cell cultures, microscopy and standard biochemical procedures. Store and organise samples and record results in a clear and concise way. Maintain equipment including washing, sterilisation and disposal. Perform quality checks and contribute to the general cleanliness and upkeep of the lab space. They're looking for an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to join a small, highly technical team building production-grade AI solutions from the ground up. The Role This is a hands-on engineering position where you'll take ownership of key machine learning components throughout their entire lifecycle. You'll be responsible for designing, developing and deploying scalable ML systems that solve complex real-world problems. Your responsibilities will include: Designing and implementing production-ready machine learning systems. Owning the full ML lifecycle, from data preparation and model training through to deployment and optimisation. Translating research concepts into robust, scalable production solutions. Monitoring, debugging and improving models using production data and user feedback. Working closely with software engineers, researchers and product teams to deliver impactful features. Mentoring other engineers through technical leadership, code reviews and best practices. Building systems that balance performance, latency, reliability and scalability. Technology Python PyTorch and/or JAX GPU-based model training and inference Modern machine learning infrastructure What We're Looking For Commercial experience building and deploying machine learning models into production. Strong understanding of modern ML architectures and production challenges. Excellent software engineering skills with a focus on maintainable, production-quality code. Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical delivery. Strong problem-solving skills and a pragmatic approach to engineering.
