Sous Chef

Overview

We are looking for a motivated and reliable Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in the daily running of a busy kitchen. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced catering environment and is passionate about preparing high-quality food while maintaining excellent kitchen standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Chef with the day-to-day operation of the kitchen
  • Assist with planning, preparing, and delivering a variety of meals and catering services
  • Prepare food for both small service periods and larger events or functions
  • Ensure all food is prepared and presented to a high standard
  • Maintain food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards at all times
  • Help manage stock levels, ordering, and reduce food waste where possible
  • Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service
  • Assist with staff supervision and support junior kitchen team members

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience working in a professional kitchen or catering environment
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure during busy service periods
  • Good understanding of food hygiene and safety standards
  • Team-focused with good communication skills
  • Flexible and willing to assist across different catering services and events
