Sous Chef
Overview
We are looking for a motivated and reliable Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in the daily running of a busy kitchen. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced catering environment and is passionate about preparing high-quality food while maintaining excellent kitchen standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef with the day-to-day operation of the kitchen
- Assist with planning, preparing, and delivering a variety of meals and catering services
- Prepare food for both small service periods and larger events or functions
- Ensure all food is prepared and presented to a high standard
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards at all times
- Help manage stock levels, ordering, and reduce food waste where possible
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service
- Assist with staff supervision and support junior kitchen team members
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working in a professional kitchen or catering environment
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to work well under pressure during busy service periods
- Good understanding of food hygiene and safety standards
- Team-focused with good communication skills
- Flexible and willing to assist across different catering services and events
