My client is seeking a skilled High Voltage Installation Technician / Fitter to support the installation, assembly and maintenance of high voltage electrical equipment across a range of energy infrastructure projects. The role involves working on substations and power distribution systems, including transformers, switchgear, and associated HV equipment, ensuring installations are completed safely, efficiently, and to industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, assemble, and maintain high voltage equipment including transformers, switchgear, and associated components.
- Carry out mechanical and electrical installation works within HV substations and energy infrastructure projects.
- Support commissioning and testing activities where required.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and installation specifications.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with safety regulations, site procedures, and quality standards.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, supervisors, and project teams to deliver projects on schedule.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working in high voltage environments (substations, power generation, or grid infrastructure).
- Hands-on experience installing transformers, HV switchgear, and related equipment.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and installation documentation.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures and site practices.
- Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred.
- Willingness to travel and work on site-based projects.
Desirable:
- Experience working on UK DNO or transmission projects.
- HV authorisations or relevant industry safety certifications.
- Experience supporting commissioning or testing teams.
