The Company

A global manufacturer of precision-engineered components for consumer products is seeking a Process / Manufacturing Engineer to improve efficiency, automation, and operational performance at its Barnsley site.

This is a varied, hands-on position combining process improvement, automation, and practical engineering problem-solving. You will work closely with production teams to analyse existing systems, design improvements, and implement solutions that deliver measurable results.

The Role

You will identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance reliability through both process optimisation and the development of automated solutions. The role involves significant shop-floor engagement, working closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to deliver practical, sustainable improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse production workflows, layouts, and resource utilisation to identify improvement opportunities
  • Conduct time-and-motion studies and process capability assessments
  • Design and implement improvements to processes, tooling, equipment, or layouts
  • Implementing, and maintaining control systems that automate industrial processes
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities to ensure smooth transition into production
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma principles
  • Work directly with production teams to implement effective solutions
  • Prepare cost-benefit analyses and technical recommendations
  • Deliver training and support to embed improvements across teams

About You

  • Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or similar
  • Experience within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Strong process improvement and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement tools
  • Strong analytical mindset with a pragmatic approach
