Behavioural Support Assistant: SEND School

Location: Ashington

Hours: Full Time

Contract: Temporaray Long Term

Salary: £109 a day

Start Date: Immediate Start

Leader Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our specialist SEND school supporting pupils aged 4 18 years with complex and multiple learning difficulties.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and therapists to support pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including:

Complex and multiple learning difficulties (CMLD)

Speech, language and communication needs (SLCN

Physical disabilities

Sensory needs

You will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and achieve their full potential in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups

Assist with personal care, mobility, and physical support where required

Use communication strategies such as visual supports, Makaton, or AAC (training provided where needed

Support behaviour regulation and emotional wellbeing

Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families

Ensure safeguarding and health & safety procedures are always followed

The Ideal Candidate:

Has experience working with children or young people with SEND (desirable but not essential)

Is patient, empathetic, and resilient

Can adapt to individual learning and care needs

Is able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
