Sub Agent

Carmichael UK is working with a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering major infrastructure works on the HS2 project. We are currently seeking an experienced Sub Agent with civils experience to support the delivery of works across a key section of the project in Buckinghamshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK s most significant infrastructure programmes and play a key role in delivering a range of civil engineering packages.

As Sub Agent, you will support the Project Manager in the planning and delivery of civil engineering works, ensuring activities are delivered safely, on programme, and in line with quality and commercial requirements.

• Manage the day-to-day delivery of civil engineering works including earthworks, drainage, structures, or utilities
• Supervise site engineers and coordinate subcontractor activities
• Ensure works are delivered in line with programme, quality, and safety standards
• Oversee engineering activities including setting out, inspections, and documentation
• Manage construction records including ITPs, as-built documentation, and quality records
• Support programme tracking, reporting, and risk management
• Liaise with project teams, client representatives, and stakeholders

• Proven experience as a Sub Agent, Section Engineer, or Senior Engineer within civil engineering or infrastructure projects
• Strong background across civils packages (earthworks, drainage, highways, structures, or utilities)
• Previous experience on major infrastructure or rail projects is highly advantageous
• HNC, HND, or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
• Good understanding of programme and commercial awareness
• Right to work in the UK
