Prototype / R&D Technician Automotive Audio Systems

Our UK-based automotive customer is seeking a hands-on, motivated Prototype / R&D Technician to support the development and testing of cutting-edge audio systems within vehicles. This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their engineering career or an experienced technician looking to work in an innovative R&D environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the assembly of prototype audio systems in and out of vehicles
  • Assist with testing and validation of prototype systems, including high-voltage testing
  • Help manage and procure tools, equipment, and components
  • Assist with vehicle interior strip-down and rebuild
  • Support wiring harness assembly and electrical integration
  • Carry out soldering of cables and connectors (training can be provided)
  • Perform material handling and use of hand tools (cutting, drilling, filing, etc.)
  • Assist with basic vehicle maintenance while on-site
  • Monitor vehicle condition, fuel levels, and battery status
  • Maintain stock levels and order required supplies

What We re Looking For

  • Level 3 engineering apprentice (completed or in progress), college student, or recent graduate in a relevant field
  • Alternatively, an experienced technician with a strong practical background
  • Hands-on experience with tools and mechanical/electrical tasks
  • Strong willingness to learn new skills and develop within an R&D environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with electrical, audio, and mechanical teams
  • Good attention to detail and a proactive attitude
