Seven Resourcing are looking for an experienced Social Worker to join a specialist Children and Families team in Orkney. This is a full-time temporary position offering a competitive hourly rate alongside accommodation support, making it an excellent opportunity for those seeking both professional development and a unique working environment.

In this role, you will work across a range of services including fostering, adoption, kinship care, aftercare, children with disabilities, and support for unpaid carers, contributing to high-quality, person-centred social work practice.

Key Responsibilities of the Social Worker:

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments across fostering, adoption, kinship, and children's services
  • Support children, young people, families, and carers through tailored care planning
  • Manage a varied caseload across multiple service areas
  • Contribute to permanency planning, including adoption and long-term care arrangements
  • Carry out safeguarding assessments and contribute to child protection processes
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies
  • Maintain accurate and timely case recordings and reports
  • Participate in meetings, reviews, and case conferences
  • Promote positive outcomes, stability, and wellbeing for children and families

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker (BA/MA/BSc/MSc in Social Work, CQSW, or DipSW)
  • Registered with the SSSC
  • Minimum 2 years' post-qualifying experience in children and families social work
  • Experience across fostering, adoption, kinship, or related services is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of child protection legislation and frameworks
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to work independently in a remote or island-based setting
  • Full UK driving licence (and ability to travel locally where required)
