You'll also work closely with the Senior Technician - Sound, Senior Technician - Stage, Head of Stage, and the Technical Manager. This role is an integral part of the technical team within this busy regional venue. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate extensive experience in the technical aspects of theatre craft and have a background in facilitating shows. You will be a good team player with excellent communication skills, computer literate and have the ability to lead and motivate others. You will have a good working knowledge of current health and safety legislation, along with modern theatre technology systems. The Senior Technician - Lighting will work closely with the BOH Team to manage technical systems with responsibility for all aspects including but not limited to: in-service and testing of electrical equipment, equipment scheduling, lighting and sound systems, assist in stage and Flys and maintenance, and liaise with visiting companies, providing expertise on the venue's capabilities. Please note, your role may involve working with children or vulnerable people. Key responsibilities To work as part of the crew ensuring the smooth running of fit ups, get outs and shows, in line with health and safety legislation and the requirements of the visiting company, and in accordance with the BECTU Code of Conduct. To complete regular inspections of technical equipment within the venue in line with health and safety legislative requirements alongside the Head of Lighting and Sound. To work closely with the visiting companies to ensure their technical needs are met, and ensure all crew are working in a pro-active manner. To ensure that only qualified, trained and experienced personnel are allowed to operate technical equipment within the venue. Operate a skills matrix with the Head of Lighting & Sound and the Head of Stage to ensure that the right skills are in place and fully utilised Ensuring that all backstage areas and storage are kept to the highest possible standard, and to bring any difficulties and/or health and safety hazards to the attention of the Head of Lighting & Sound and the Head of Stage. Alongside the other members of the electrics team, to take responsibility for housekeeping and maintenance of the electrics workshop. To develop risk assessments with the Head of Lighting & Sound, ensuring that these are reviewed annually. To set up equipment for other events throughout the venue when required. To implement and comply with the company Health & Safety Policy, maintaining the safest possible environment for your colleagues, visiting companies and customers. To act as a Duty Technician during performances, carry out regular lamp rounds of all areas of the building as part of pre-show checks, and take on an investigative role in the event of fire alarm activations.
