Responsibility: Design, undertake, and lead terrestrial ecology surveys and site visits, including Phase 1 / UK Habitat surveys, protected species surveys (e.g., bats, badgers, dormice, GCN, reptiles, otters, water voles, and nesting birds), and acting as ECoW. Conduct desk-based studies and produce high-quality ecological reports, including PEARs, EcIAs, ES chapters, and BNG assessments. Independently manage a range of ecological projects, meeting client demands and deadlines. Develop, maintain, and manage internal and external client and stakeholder relationships. Prepare tenders and proposals for new ecological projects. Review and provide feedback on work completed by junior ecologists, offering mentorship and guidance. Requirements: Minimum of 3 years relevant professional experience in ecological consultancy or a related field (including public sector or conservation bodies). Relevant degree and/or postgraduate qualification with a strong academic record. Comprehensive experience with UK botanical and faunal identification. Knowledge and experience of Phase 1 Habitat and/or UK Habitat Classification surveys. Proven experience undertaking protected species surveys, mitigation, and licensing. Up-to-date knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and policy. Proven ability to produce high-quality written reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, EcIAs, and protected species survey reports. Experience managing and liaising with clients. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, with effective teamwork, organisation, and communication skills. Full or Associate Membership of CIEEM (or eligible to obtain).
