My client based in the rural village of Necton, Swaffham, requires a school caretaker to support the team on a daily basis. The days consist of split shifts that are 07:30am to 9:00am & 2:30pm to 18:00pm. The role is Monday to Friday and running through till Mid July Job Purpose: To ensure the school's buildings, grounds, and facilities are safe, clean, well-maintained, and ready for daily use by staff, students, and visitors. The caretaker plays a vital role in supporting the smooth running of the school environment. Key Responsibilities / Duties: 1. Maintenance & Repairs Carry out routine maintenance tasks (e.g., painting, minor repairs, plumbing, and electrical work). Respond promptly to repair requests from staff. Monitor the condition of buildings, equipment, and grounds, reporting major issues to the facilities manager. 2. Security Open and close the school premises as required. Ensure security systems are operational (alarms, locks, CCTV). Monitor and report any suspicious activity. 3. Cleaning & Housekeeping Support Assist with general cleaning duties when needed. Maintain cleanliness of corridors, classrooms, restrooms, and outdoor areas. Manage waste disposal and recycling procedures. 4. Grounds & Facilities Management Maintain school grounds (e.g., mowing lawns, clearing leaves, snow removal, cleaning playgrounds). Set up and dismantle furniture or equipment for school events, meetings, or sports activities. Monitor supplies for maintenance and cleaning, ordering replacements as required. 5. Health & Safety Compliance Follow health and safety procedures at all times. Conduct routine safety inspections of equipment, buildings, and grounds. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and school policies. 6. Support for School Activities Assist with the setup and logistics for events, performances, and sports days.
