This role enables the successful welder to join a forward-thinking organisation. THE ROLE Measure and mark work pieces using straightedges, rules and callipers Cut and smoothen metal components using plasma cutters / portable grinders Read and interpret blueprints and production drawings in order to lay out a welding project Collaborate with project managers and welding supervisors to ensure smooth work operations Guide and direct the activities of inexperienced/trainee welders Maintain welding safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a risk-free work environment Carry out welding according to set dimensions to meet general test requirements Organise and clean welding equipment on a regular basis Weld materials in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions Adjust gas gauges to set the flow rate of shield gas Use measuring instruments such as micrometres and callipers to inspect angles, grooves or gap allowances Apply knowledge of metallurgy and geometry in selecting welding equipment and configuration. In this role, you'll play a key part in ensuring high-quality cutting of materials for packaging, print, or custom fabrication. Key Responsibilities: Operate and maintain die-cutting machinery (e.g., Bobst, Heidelberg, or similar). Read and interpret job specifications and quality standards. Set up tooling and dies for accurate and efficient runs. Monitor production to ensure proper registration, pressure, and cuts. Report any changes to supervisors To record information acuratley Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot machine issues. Ensure workplace safety and cleanliness at all times. Requirements: Proven experience as a die cutter or in a related role in manufacturing or print production. Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude. Ability to read technical drawings and work orders. Good communication and teamwork skills. Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle materials. Key Responsibilities 1. Material Preparation & Interpretation: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, including General Arrangement (GA), detail, and isometric drawings. Mark out materials for cutting and shaping using templates, scribers, or CNC programming. Select appropriate materials (e.g., carbon steel S355, stainless steel 316L, aluminium). 2. Fabrication & Forming: Operate heavy machinery to cut and shape metal: Thermal Cutting: Plasma, oxy-fuel, and laser cutters. Mechanical Cutting: Guillotines, band saws. Forming: Press brakes, rollers, and plate bending machines to form plates into cylinders, cones, etc. Perform thermal straightening to correct distortions in metal. 3. Assembly & Fitting: Assemble components using jigs, fixtures, and tack welds to ensure precise alignment before final welding. Fit and align large sections and plate work to tight tolerances (often within 2mm). Use measuring equipment (verniers, levels, laser alignment tools) to check accuracy.

Finishing Manager Large Format Print Location: Skelmersdale (on-site) Salary: Around £35,000 (depending on experience) Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am 5pm Are you an experienced finishing professional looking to step into a management role? Or maybe you re already leading a team and fancy a fresh challenge? This role could be spot on. They are a well established large format print and signage business with plenty of growth happening. Right now, they need someone to take charge of the finishing department planning workloads, keeping quality high, and making sure jobs leave the building on time. What you ll be doing Running the day to day in finishing, from scheduling through to dispatch Supervising and developing a team of finishers training, rotas, and keeping everyone on track Getting hands on with kit like automated cutters (Zünd/Kongsberg or similar), laminators, sewing machines, and mounting tables Making sure jobs are trimmed, mounted, hemmed, eyeletted, and packaged to a top standard Keeping the department safe, organised, and efficient always looking for ways to improve What they re looking for Solid experience in large format print/signage finishing, ideally with some management responsibility already Confident operating a range of finishing equipment and materials (vinyls, fabrics, Foamex, Dibond, banners, tension fabric systems) Strong organisational skills able to juggle workloads and deadlines without losing quality A clear communicator who can work well with other teams like print, design, and account management Someone calm under pressure who can keep things moving when it gets busy Nice to have Experience with SEG sewing or illuminated display assembly Forklift, IPAF, PASMA, or H&S training This is a great opportunity for someone who knows finishing inside out and wants to lead a team in a busy, growing print environment.
