Your new company HMP Cardiff is a Category B men's prison located in the centre of Cardiff, Wales. It primarily holds adult and young adult male offenders, including those on remand and those serving short sentences. Your new role As a painter and decorator, you will be required to ensure the site is maintained to the agreed standard with the undertaking of planned maintenance, refurbishment and new works. Painting and decorating staff and prisoner facilities on the estate, with adherence to Health and Safety guidelines and security procedures to meet the site's short term and long-term goals and objectives. Main duties of this role include but are not limited to: Undertake planned maintenance, refurbishment, new works, and painting and decorating of staff and prisoner facilities across the estate. Ensure all activities are effectively prioritised in line with local procedures. Ensure workloads and regimes are delivered, escalating any issues to the Site Manager when required. Supervise prisoners throughout the day and during training sessions as required. Uphold agreed standards of prisoner discipline within the work area, including issuing behaviour warnings and maintaining appropriate records. Undertake quality control of prisoner work in accordance with the Service Delivery Agreement (SDA). Conduct survey inspections, including in confined spaces and at height, ensuring all work is properly recorded and registers/logs are completed.
