Communications Specialist Engineer required for a leading systems integrator, supplier and installer of navigation systems based in Southampton. The ideal candidate will be an engineer with good knowledge and working experience of electronics. Familiar with design and engineering skills in CCTV, Telecoms, Radio systems, Intercom and Public Address system preferred. Communications Specialist Engineer Position Overview Ability to provide engineering support tasks from repair/fault finding to board level including soldering a must, to providing system design solutions and implementing the in-house assembly and production of such systems. This will entail from the gathering of product technical details to obtaining priced quotations from key suppliers and within the assembly and factory testing of such systems, to ensure compliance with customers key requirements. To have the ability to liaise with other team members in sharing information and to assist with the purchasing process of such items. Ideally to have some CAD drawing experience, familiar with preparing technical drawings, system handbook documentation, identifying product obsolescence and solutions with management of the latter. To act in a technical role with end users, providing telephone/email support. To develop relations with the supply chain and to have the ability to play a role in the installation and commissioning of the systems ideally within a maritime / offshore environment but not essential.
