We are seeking someone with previous experience of having worked with learners that have SEMH and have experienced trauma who may have other needs relating to ASC / ASD. The ideal person will be able to act as a positive role model and deliver an alternative education curriculum. We seek individuals that are skilled in recognising the emotional and educational needs of the learner and who are able to respond to and create appropriate learning activities & opportunities around the needs of individual learners. Many of the learners have not engaged in education for a significant amount of time so commonly, an individual approach for each child is necessary. If you have already had training in positive behaviour management such as Team Teach / PBM / MAPA and/or THRIVE training we would be particularly interested in hearing from you. If you have practical experience of working with children displaying challenging behaviour and are successful in your application for this post, Team Teach training will be offered free of charge and would be a requirement of the post. The full-time working day is from 9:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday. There will likely be flexible working times & days (part-time) possible within those hours. ABC Teachers is seeking Youth Support Workers to provide flexible and dedicated support across primary and secondary SEN schools. This is a supply-based role, offering the opportunity to gain experience in a range of specialist educational settings. About the role: 1:1 and Small Group Support: Work closely with children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH), and Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD). Positive Engagement: Build trusting relationships, encourage positive behaviour, and help pupils develop confidence both inside and outside the classroom. Adaptable Approach: Support pupils individual learning plans, adapting resources and approaches to meet diverse needs. Team Collaboration: Work with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to ensure pupils have consistent, supportive provision that promotes both academic and personal progress. About you: To be considered for the Youth Support Worker role, you will: Have experience working with children or young people with SEN, whether in schools, youth work, residential care, or community settings. Be confident in managing behaviour positively and supporting pupils with varying needs. Show patience, empathy, and resilience, with a genuine passion for supporting young people. Be adaptable to different school environments and age groups (primary and secondary). Have, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check that is registered on the Update Service. This role would be suitable for candidates with backgrounds in youth work, care, psychology, mentoring, or other related fields.
