Barker Ross are recruiting for a Permanent HGV Class 1 RORO/Skip Driver to work for a company based in the NG12 Cotgrave area. (Just off the A46) This permanent position to work for a family run business established for over 20 years, who has a busy recycling depot located in Cotgrave. In more detail our HGV Driver is required to; Be competent with vehicles we use - RORO lorries, Artic lorries and Skip lorries Have a polite friendly persona when dealing with customers and must be calm and patient behind the wheel. Deliver, exchange, or collect scrap loads safely from suppliers' sites Deliver loads to customer sites Conduct daily checks on vehicles and report problems accordingly (defect reports) Ensure safety attire and equipment is always used (where applicable). Must ensure all loads are safe before travelling. Complete relevant paperwork required for each load transferred. Occasional yard duties when transport duties are quiet. Any other duties as directed by the Yard Manager / Supervisor Experience: Must have Class 1 license and must be up to date with driver CPC with relevant experience. Our client is seeking a dependable and proactive Yard Operative / FLT Driver to join their energetic team. This role involves manual handling and heavy lifting; therefore, you must be physically fit. Job Objectives Provide essential support to daily operations, ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and team objectives. Assist in the smooth running of the Operations and Yard departments. Hold a valid forklift licence (essential). Operational Duties (including, but not limited to): Attend the daily Toolbox Talk promptly at 7:30 am. Maintain a clean and safe yard environment by minimising risks and promptly reporting concerns to the Operations Management Team, both verbally and via Near Miss and Damages procedures. Perform regular servicing, inspection, and maintenance of all equipment. Undertake any tasks within the role s scope as directed by line management. Prepare equipment for tasks as requested by the Operations Management Team. Accurately pick equipment according to load lists. Load and unload equipment from various vehicles, including counterbalance forklifts and telehandlers. Secure loads to trailers and kit to stillages safely using ratchet straps. Ensure trailers are strapped in compliance with VOSA regulations. Collaborate with operations personnel to monitor and maintain stock levels. Ensure stock is serviced and ready for despatch. Participate actively in annual stock audits and asset identification. Carry out manual handling of stock, scaffolding, and equipment safely and correctly. Administrative Duties (including, but not limited to): Accurately follow yard procedures for equipment labelling. Complete all documentation related to near misses, accident reporting, and damages with precision. Ensure load lists are fully and accurately completed. Report promptly to Line Management any items not returned from site. Notify Line Management immediately of stock shortages and required consumables. Health & Safety (including, but not limited to): Actively promote and uphold Health and Safety standards within the workplace.
