Unix/Linux Systems Administrator (Solaris Specialist) Barrow-in-Furness £51,000 + Benefits SC Clearance Required We are seeking an experienced Unix/Linux Systems Administrator with strong Solaris expertise to join our team in Barrow-in-Furness . This is a site-based role, 5 days per week , working on critical defence and engineering programmes. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a secure and technically challenging environment, where your skills will directly support vital national infrastructure. The Role As a Systems Administrator, you will: Provide support and administration of Unix/Linux environments, with a strong focus on Solaris 10 & 11 (experience with Solaris 8/9 is highly desirable). Manage system performance, patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting. Develop and maintain automation scripts (Bash, Python, etc.) to improve efficiency and streamline operations. Support project delivery teams with technical expertise and system configuration. Ensure systems remain secure, stable, and compliant with security standards.
