Biology Laboratory Technician

Biology Laboratory Technician Location: Cambridge, UK Salary: 13- 14 per hour Duration: Anticipated 12-month contract initially Proclinical is working alongside a discovery-focused life sciences organisation which is based in Cambridge and is seeking a Biology Laboratory Technician to join its laboratory operations team. This is a hands-on, lab-based role supporting day-to-day biological lab activities within a modern drug discovery environment. We are supporting a growing biotechnology organisation in Cambridge to appoint a Biology Laboratory Technician to play a central role in the day-to-day running of their research laboratories. This is a hands-on, highly operational position supporting scientists working on the biology of diseases and the discovery of new therapeutic targets. The role is critical to keeping the lab running smoothly and efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety, organisation, and scientific practice. The Role You'll be responsible for supporting the daily operations of a busy biology lab. While there is some scientific input, this is primarily an operational, lab support-focused role, suited to someone who enjoys structure, routine, and keeping things running behind the scenes. Your responsibilities will include: Managing consumables, stock, and laboratory supplies Waste management and maintaining smooth lab operations Receiving and organising deliveries and replenishing stock levels Supporting lab housekeeping, cleanliness, and organisation across facilities Preparing media, pouring plates and aliquoting reagents Working under sterile conditions using aseptic techniques Supporting tissue culture lab activities where required Operating lab equipment such as autoclaves, glass wash systems, and balances (training provided) Supporting wider site operations when required (including general facilities support) What You'll Bring We're looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team and is comfortable in a structured, repeatable role where consistency and reliability are key. The ideal profile will include: At least 1 years' experience working in a laboratory, ideally in a similar role Experience with media preparation, aliquoting, or aseptic techniques (preferred, not essential) Background in biology or a related scientific field (degree preferred but not required) Strong organisational skills and attention to detail A reliable, proactive, and team-oriented approach Confidence working to SOPs and health & safety guidelines Candidates from adjacent roles (e.g. QC analysts or microbiology backgrounds) with relevant lab exposure will also be considered.
