Clerk of Works / NEC Supervisor Clerk of Works / NEC Supervisor Opportunity East Midlands & South Yorkshire Hybrid Working A well-established multidisciplinary construction and property consultancy is seeking an experienced Clerk of Works / NEC Supervisor to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Clerk of Works / NEC Supervisor to work across a diverse portfolio of education, commercial and residential projects throughout the East Midlands and South Yorkshire. The successful Clerk of Works / NEC Supervisor will play a key role in protecting clients' interests on site, ensuring projects are delivered to the required standards of quality, compliance and workmanship. This Clerk of Works / NEC Supervisor position offers a varied workload, combining traditional Clerk of Works duties with NEC4 Supervisor responsibilities across a range of new build, refurbishment and fit-out schemes. The Clerk of Works / NEC Supervisor Role The Clerk of Works / NEC Supervisor will be responsible for: Acting as the client's representative on site, monitoring quality, workmanship and compliance Delivering a combination of Clerk of Works and NEC4 Supervisor services depending on project requirements Undertaking the contractual duties of the NEC4 Supervisor on projects procured under NEC contracts Producing detailed site inspection reports and providing regular client updates Reviewing drawings, specifications and construction methodologies to ensure compliance Identifying defects, quality concerns and non-compliant works and ensuring they are resolved Monitoring construction progress against agreed programmes Reporting on site health and safety issues and general site conditions Liaising with contractors, consultants and project stakeholders Working across education, commercial and residential developments The Successful Clerk of Works / NEC Supervisor To be considered, the Clerk of Works / NEC Supervisor should ideally have: Membership of ICWCI and/or NEC4 Supervisor Accreditation Experience working as a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector or NEC Supervisor Experience across education, commercial and residential projects Strong knowledge of construction techniques, building design and Building Regulations Experience working under both JCT and NEC forms of contract Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and programmes Excellent report writing and communication skills The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously In Return? We are seeking a Clerk of Works to take on this role for a period of 24 months on a part-time (2 days per week) basis. Induction, in-house training and insurances will be provided to the successful candidate and there may be the opportunity of further work in the surrounding area upon completion of the project. NEC Site Supervisor Location: Birmingham Contract: Inside IR35 Rate: £55 £65 per hour (negotiable, dependent on experience) Hours: 8 hours per day, 5 days per week (opportunity of overtime to be discussed) Morson Talent are recruiting for an experienced NEC Site Supervisor to join a leading civil engineering project in Birmingham. Role Overview As the NEC Supervisor, you will support the NEC Project Manager and play a vital role in monitoring, inspecting, and ensuring quality standards on site. You ll provide independent scrutiny of works, ensuring compliance with the Works Information, NEC Contract requirements, and applicable legislation. Key Responsibilities Maintain a regular on-site presence, checking that the correct materials and standards are consistently applied. Identify and mitigate potential issues before they arise. Manage and record any defects, issuing relevant communications as per contract requirements. Attend and contribute to progress meetings. Prepare and submit reports (weekly/fortnightly/monthly), including sequence of works and supporting photographic evidence. Exercise authority to instruct defect searches and issue the Defects Certificate at the end of the Defects Correction Period. About You We re seeking candidates with: Extensive experience in civil engineering, ideally as an Inspector, Clerk of Works, NEC Supervisor or Design Site Representative. Strong track record supervising multi-disciplined projects in highways, transportation, and civil engineering. Solid understanding of NEC contracts, Specification for Highway Works (SHW), and material testing. Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster collaborative working relationships with contractors, consultants, and local authorities.
