Location: Hampshire (On-site, Full-Time) Contract Type: Contract Project Type: Major Infrastructure (Tier 1 Highways) Reporting to: Lead Ecologist Are you an experienced Ecologist looking to make an impact on a major infrastructure project? We are partnering with a Tier 1 Main Contractor to recruit a team of dedicated Ecological Clerks of Works (ECoW) and General Ecologists for a high-profile highways scheme in Hampshire. Working closely under the direction of a Lead Ecologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring environmental compliance, protecting local biodiversity, and keeping a major engineering project on track. Key Responsibilities Act as the on-site ECoW, providing ecological mitigation, tool-box talks, and watching briefs for construction crews. Conduct robust ecological surveys, specifically focusing on nesting birds, bats, and dormice. Collaborate with the site engineering teams to ensure working methods align with environmental permits and legislation. Report directly to the Lead Ecologist, who will manage and schedule your day-to-day site activities. Safely manage your workload across a flexible rota, which will include essential night works and occasional weekend shifts to align with construction phases. What We Are Looking For Species Expertise: Proven experience conducting surveys and mitigation for bats, nesting birds, and dormice. Licensing: Holder of a valid Dormouse survey/mitigation licence (Class 1 or equivalent) is highly desirable/essential. Infrastructure Experience: Prior experience working on-site with Tier 1 main contractors or on large-scale highways/infrastructure projects. Flexibility: Willingness to work full-time on site, including night shifts and weekends as required by the construction schedule. Certifications: Valid CSCS card is required for site access. Communication: Strong communication skills to confidently advise site managers and contractors on compliance. What's on Offer? The Role As Ecological Clerk of Works, you will play a key role in supporting construction activities while ensuring works are undertaken in accordance with ecological legislation, planning requirements, and project environmental commitments. Working closely with site teams, environmental managers, ecologists, and key stakeholders, you will provide specialist ecological advice and undertake site inspections to minimise environmental risks and support successful project outcomes. Key Responsibilities Undertake ecological site inspections and monitoring activities. Provide ecological toolbox talks and site briefings. Ensure construction activities comply with ecological constraints and mitigation measures. Monitor protected species mitigation and habitat protection measures. Support the implementation of Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs). Produce site reports, inspection records, and compliance documentation. Liaise with contractors, project teams, regulators, and environmental stakeholders. Identify environmental risks and provide practical solutions to support project delivery. Assist with ecological surveys where required. Promote environmental best practice and a positive ecological culture across site teams. About You To be successful in this role, you will ideally have: Experience working as an Ecological Clerk of Works, Ecologist, or Environmental Advisor within construction, infrastructure, rail, highways, or utilities sectors. Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and ecological best practice. Experience monitoring ecological mitigation measures on live construction sites. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple site locations. Full UK driving licence. Relevant degree or qualification in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.

NEC Site Supervisor Location: Birmingham Contract: Inside IR35 Rate: £55 £65 per hour (negotiable, dependent on experience) Hours: 8 hours per day, 5 days per week (opportunity of overtime to be discussed) Morson Talent are recruiting for an experienced NEC Site Supervisor to join a leading civil engineering project in Birmingham. Role Overview As the NEC Supervisor, you will support the NEC Project Manager and play a vital role in monitoring, inspecting, and ensuring quality standards on site. You ll provide independent scrutiny of works, ensuring compliance with the Works Information, NEC Contract requirements, and applicable legislation. Key Responsibilities Maintain a regular on-site presence, checking that the correct materials and standards are consistently applied. Identify and mitigate potential issues before they arise. Manage and record any defects, issuing relevant communications as per contract requirements. Attend and contribute to progress meetings. Prepare and submit reports (weekly/fortnightly/monthly), including sequence of works and supporting photographic evidence. Exercise authority to instruct defect searches and issue the Defects Certificate at the end of the Defects Correction Period. About You We re seeking candidates with: Extensive experience in civil engineering, ideally as an Inspector, Clerk of Works, NEC Supervisor or Design Site Representative. Strong track record supervising multi-disciplined projects in highways, transportation, and civil engineering. Solid understanding of NEC contracts, Specification for Highway Works (SHW), and material testing. Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster collaborative working relationships with contractors, consultants, and local authorities.
