At Saint-Gobain Abrasives, we are currently recruiting for multiple skilled Manufacturing Operative roles to join our specialist production/engineering teams in Staverton. We are looking for candidates for the following positions: Turning / Milling Machinist Plating Technician High Precision Grinder Operator Diamond Setter CNC Machinist / Setter Operator These roles support the manufacture of high-quality, precision-engineered rotary dresser products used across advanced manufacturing industries. You will be working within a highly skilled engineering environment where components are produced to extremely tight tolerances, supporting customers in demanding sectors such as aerospace, automotive, bearing, and powertrain industries. What we're looking for Experience working in a manufacturing, engineering, or precision production environment Ability to read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings and technical specifications Experience working to tight tolerances using precision measuring and inspection equipment Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work A proactive, safety-conscious approach with a focus on housekeeping and continuous improvement Ability to follow technical instructions and work both independently and as part of a team Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritise workload effectively Willingness to learn and develop new skills across different manufacturing processes What you will be doing Setting up and operating manufacturing and machining equipment to produce precision-engineered components to exact specifications Carrying out machining, finishing, plating, assembly, or related production processes depending on role requirements within the cell Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, work instructions, and production documentation Carrying out in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment to ensure compliance with tight tolerances Supporting process control activities, including recording production data and completing documentation systems such as SAP Maintaining equipment, tools, and work areas to high standards, ensuring safety and efficiency Supporting production flow through stock control, materials handling, and communication with engineering and production teams Contributing to continuous improvement activities, including lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives Supporting quality, safety, and environmental standards across all manufacturing activities Is Saint-Gobain an inclusive employer? CNC Machinists (Grinders and EDM Operators) required for Weekend Day Shift 05 45 (Fri Sun) to join a well-established, growing manufacturer supplying high-precision components to the aerospace and power generation industries. We ve partnered with this business for over 20 years, and they re known for their excellent working environment, strong leadership, and long-term career prospects. What s on offer £19.62 per hour (including shift allowance) 36 hours - Weekends only Bonus scheme Overtime available and paid at enhanced rates 26 days holiday + 7 bank holidays Permanent, secure role with a growing manufacturer The role You ll operate CNC machinery to produce high-quality, precision components, ensuring all work meets strict quality and customer standards. Key responsibilities include: Operating CNC Grinding or EDM Machines, ensuring that parts are machined in accordance with the agreed method specification. Attain machine setting skills to enable machine set ups in line with Company requirements Understanding of engineering drawings, ensuring that fixtures are correctly aligned. Inspecting parts in line with quality procedures and taking any necessary, approved, action to resolve quality issues Operating CMM machines to support inspection requirement. Consistently achieving all targets (production, quality, housekeeping etc), as set by the Cell Manager Adherence to all company policy s and procedures, including SOX, Code of Conduct and Health and Safety. Working in full compliance with quality, safety and company procedures Requirements for the position of the CNC Operator: Demonstrated experience in CNC machining and/or a strong academic background in engineering, ideally supported by a recognised machining apprenticeship. Previous experience working with metal components. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Proficient in conducting self-inspection of machined components using manual measurement tools. Desirables: Previous experience in CNC Grinding or EDM is advantageous but not essential. Experience within an Aerospace sector is advantageous. Positive attitude and a keenness to learn. Experience with CNC programme editing or basic G code adjustments. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong problem solving mindset.
