Our client, a Global consultancy, is seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Structural Engineer to join their team in Leeds. This permanent role focuses on leading the design and delivery of significant water infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities: Lead the structural design of complex water infrastructure, including reinforced concrete chambers, inlet/outlet structures, pumping stations, and retaining structures. Drive the timely delivery of design packages, accurately forecasting team size, seniority, and hours required to meet strict design programmes. Oversee the production and QA/QC of structural deliverables, including design reports, calculations, and Revit models/drawings. Draft detailed structural quotations, defining clear boundaries between concept and detailed design to mitigate scope creep. Manage project budgets, monitor resource burn rates, and ensure structural scopes remain profitable and within agreed contingencies. Manage and mentor a team of structural engineers and BIM/CAD technicians, assigning appropriate tasks based on project complexity and team capability. Act as the primary structural point of contact, coordinating seamlessly with internal Geotechnical, Hydraulics, and MEICA disciplines. Qualifications & Experience: Chartered Engineer (CEng MIStructE or MICE). Extensive structural engineering experience within the UK water and wastewater sector. Specific experience with Category A reservoir safety projects, siphons, or spillways is highly desirable. Deep knowledge of reinforced concrete design for water-retaining structures and an understanding of dynamic loading (e.g., thrust forces, surge, and flotation). Proven track record of developing structural fee estimates, identifying commercial risks, and successfully protecting the commercial position of a design package. Strong understanding of BIM workflows and the ability to oversee Revit model development and drawing extraction. Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and technically guide a structural design team under tight deadlines.
