Your hours will be Monday to Thursday, 8:00 to 16:30, and Friday, 8:00 to 15:30. What you'll do as the Toolmaker This is a practical machining job in a small, flexible workshop. About 80% of your time will be spent making precision-turned and milled parts in the machine shop, and the other 20% will be spent helping the assembly team put machines together before they go out. You'll turn parts such as shafts, pins, and bosses on the lathe, and mill parts and features on the milling machine, including keyways and circlip grooves. You'll use a Harrison lathe, an XYZ milling machine, and a Haas CNC turning centre, moving easily between manual and CNC work. You'll handle CAM programming, using Fusion 360. The work isn't too complex, but you should understand the basics. You'll fit turned parts into the machines, add wheels and mechanical assemblies, helping the assembly team get machines ready for customers. What you'll need to apply for the Toolmaker You should have solid experience in machining/toolmaking and be able to produce parts such as shafts, pins, bosses, keyways and circlip grooves. You need to be confident using both manual lathes and milling machines, as well as CNC turning centres. You should have a working understanding of CAM programming. Reporting directly to Tool Room Manager, the role of Toolmaker requires you to manufacture, maintain and repair tooling and dies to precise engineering drawings within tight tolerances, produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines, maintain quality and safety standards, keep accurate records and be responsible for the maintenance of equipment and supplies. Toolmaker duties will include: Disassembly and reassembly of tools Tool splitting and regrinding Replacing component parts Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces Maintain specifications by observing all associated operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools Operate manual and CNC machinery Manual milling, turning, surface grinding, 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC milling, bench work Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations Ensure maintenance of Quality standards Skills/Attributes required by Toolmaker : Previous experience within a similar role as Toolmaker within a heavy manufacturing environment (essential), preferably automotive or aerospace background Toolmaker apprenticeship or minimum 3 years' experience in a toolroom environment Experience setting and operating CNC machinery Ability to read and interpret engineering technical drawings Understanding of Quality Standards and Regulations Proven efficiency with working practices Problem solving and tool improvement Must be able to work on own initiative Attention to detail Be organised and have the ability to prioritise and multi-task Be able to communicate effectively with own team and other departments Location: Redditch, Worcestershire Hours of Work: Varying Shifts Available Pay Rate: 15 - 16.50 per hour dependent upon experience Contract: Temporary to permanent If you are a skilled Tool Maker seeking an exciting opportunity, please APPLY TODAY!
