Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Primary School) Reports to: Class Teacher / SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) Location: Grays, Essex Contract Type: Full time for the rest of the academic year. Salary: £105-£110 per day umbrella rate. Job Purpose To provide support to pupils with special educational needs (SEN), ensuring they can access learning, participate fully in school activities, and achieve their full potential. The role involves working closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and other professionals to deliver targeted interventions and tailored support plans. Key Responsibilities Work under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCo to support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including learning, emotional, behavioural, or physical difficulties. Provide one-to-one or small-group support to pupils, both inside and outside the classroom, to promote learning and inclusion. Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and other targeted support programmes. Adapt and prepare learning materials to suit pupils' individual needs and learning styles. Assist with classroom management and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment. Encourage pupil independence, confidence, and self-esteem through appropriate support and guidance. Monitor and record pupil progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and the SENCo. Support pupils with personal care needs where necessary (if applicable). Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure consistent and effective support for pupils. Promote the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils in line with school policies and statutory guidance. Person Specification Essential: Experience of working with children in a school or educational setting. Understanding of the needs of pupils with SEN and strategies for supporting them. Good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills. Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents. A patient, caring, and flexible approach. Commitment to promoting equality, inclusion, and safeguarding. Desirable: Relevant qualifications, e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate or equivalent. Experience working with children with specific needs (e.g. autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or physical disabilities). Training in relevant interventions or support approaches (e.g. Makaton, PECS, Team Teach). Working Hours 8:30am - 3:30pm, term-time only

The School are looking to appoint the Learning Support Assistant as soon as possible. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and students to provide personalised support for students within KS3 and KS4, ensuring they receive the assistance they need to thrive in their education. Your responsibilities will include: Assisting in the implementation of personalised learning plans for SEN students Offering 1:1 and small group support for children with ASD.
