The Client Our client is a highly successful and dominant force in the South East construction market. Operating as both a principal contractor and a specialist civil engineering partner, they boast an incredibly diverse pipeline of major projects. Due to the commencement of multiple new sites across Kent, they require an experienced Project Manager to take the helm. The Role This is a comprehensive leadership role requiring a strong background in both heavy civils and building delivery. You will take full operational control of multi-disciplinary sites ranging from complex sub-structures and heavy earthworks through to the installation of large-scale prefabricated buildings. Your duties will include: Total Project Leadership: Managing projects from initial groundworks, deep drainage, and complex earthworks straight through to superstructure and final handover. Programme & Commercial Control: Taking ultimate responsibility for the site programme, driving productivity, and working with commercial teams to protect margins. Stakeholder Management: Acting as the primary point of contact for private clients, local authorities, and secure government representatives. Health, Safety & Quality: Enforcing uncompromising safety standards, especially in live environments such as schools or highly secure facilities. Requirements Essential: A formidable track record as a Project Manager for a Main Contractor or heavy Civil Engineering business. Essential: Proven experience managing diverse projects, including heavy earthworks, sub-structures, and complex structural installations (e.g., prefabricated modules). Essential Qualifications: Valid SMSTS, CSCS Black (Manager) Card, and First Aid. Security Clearance: Experience working on secure government or MoD sites is highly desirable. The role starts Monday and will involve overseeing civils works on site, including a concrete pour. The ideal person will have a strong civils background and previous experience working on solar farm, BESS, substation, utilities or energy infrastructure projects. Job Title: Setting Out Engineer (Service Detection Certified) Location: Manchester Airport Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Freelance Rate: £375 Umbrella PAYE per day Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled Setting Out Engineer to support civils and infrastructure works at Manchester Airport. The role involves precise setting out using Leica equipment and certified service detection to ensure safe excavation and installation across critical airport zones. Key Responsibilities: Setting out for drainage, sheet piling, and utilities . Conducting service detection using CAT Scanner, Genny, and other avoidance tools. Preparing and reviewing as-built drawings, QA documentation, and permit-to-dig records. Liaising with site teams and airport stakeholders to ensure compliance with safety and operational protocols. Supporting project engineers and site managers with technical input and reporting. Requirements: Experience as a Setting Out Engineer on civils or infrastructure projects, ideally in airport or transport environments. Service Detection Certification RD4000 or equivalent. Proficiency with Leica TS16, AutoCAD Valid CSCS card Strong understanding of drainage, groundworks, paving set out. Desirable: Experience working in live airport environments or other high-security infrastructure sites. NVQ or degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

The company is looking for someone to run a Civils and Building framework for the business, taking over from an existing employee who is moving to another part of the business Work will involve pointing up brickwork, drainage, vegetation clearance, small earthworks (cutting, embankments) and line side civils Individual projects up to 3m, majority of these are on NEC Contract so important for this person to at least have some commercial awareness Key responsibilities include: Programming and RAMS Working closely with the QS in pricing Creating CDM documentation Resourcing materials and ensuring these are distributed properly Liaising client with Network Rail (important part of the role so comms must be strong) Booking access to sites through planning teams Candidates must come from a Rail background - they'll be working closely with NR so need to understand the Rail environment To start with this will be 5 days in office/sites - office is in Marks Tey near Colchester, but would also spend 1 day per week at NR head office in Stratford Site travel would be dependent on the need to be there (if any issues for example) Preference would be for a permanent candidate but would look at freelancers also
