What you'll be doing In this busy and dynamic role as a Specification Technologist, you will be responsible for completing finished product specifications for retailers and managing the retailer systems and processes used to generate finished product packaging. You will ensure accuracy, compliance, and consistency across all specifications, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to maintain high standards and support business operations. Technical Assistant - Food Manufacturing Permanent Monday - Friday 28,000 - 30,000 d.o.e Northamptonshire This is a fantastic opportunity for a new graduate in Food Science or a related discipline looking to kickstart their career in the food industry. You'll gain hands-on experience across NPD, Technical, and Production, building a strong foundation in food safety, compliance, and product development. What you'll be doing as the Technical Assistant: Support NPD and GATE meetings, providing technical input and ensuring projects align with customer requirements and factory capability. Work closely with Process Technologists, NPD, and Commercial teams to deliver innovative, commercially viable products with robust validation and due diligence. Lead and coordinate factory trials for new products and process improvements, ensuring data capture, compliance, and successful outcomes. Manage samples and documentation, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery to customers, stakeholders, and internal teams. Monitor project timelines and critical paths, highlighting risks, proposing solutions, and driving tasks to completion. Assist with technical investigations and reporting, ensuring effective communication of issues and corrective actions to management. Proactively support production teams, advising on technical challenges and ensuring products meet quality, safety, and customer expectations. Contribute to continuous improvement, sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and strengthening departmental systems and compliance standards.
