Visiting & Tenancy Sustainment Officer needed in North London Paying £20.08 per hr ref 000B 343C / 1 Full time hours on a temporary basis Key Responsibilities Conduct home visits to tenants and residents to assess tenancy sustainment needs and identify support requirements. Provide advice and practical assistance to help residents maintain their tenancy and live independently. Identify early warning signs of tenancy failure and implement appropriate intervention plans. Support tenants experiencing financial difficulties, rent arrears, welfare issues, health concerns or other vulnerabilities. Carry out welfare and wellbeing visits, safeguarding checks and risk assessments where required. Work closely with housing management teams to reduce tenancy breaches and prevent evictions. Signpost and refer residents to appropriate support agencies, including health, social care, welfare, employment and community services. Develop personalised support plans and monitor progress against agreed outcomes. Maintain accurate case records and ensure all documentation is completed in line with policies and data protection requirements. Work in partnership with internal departments, local authorities, support providers and voluntary organisations. Support vulnerable residents to access benefits, budgeting advice and other forms of assistance. Assist with tenancy sign-ups and provide advice on tenant rights and responsibilities. Visiting & Tenancy Sustainment Officer Location: Wembley, Brent (Site-Based Role) Rate: £20.08 per hour PAYE £26.44 per hour Ltd/Umbrella Contract: Ongoing Temporary Assignment Start Date: Immediate Start Available About the Role We are currently recruiting for an experienced Visiting & Tenancy Sustainment Officer to join a busy Housing team within a London Borough based in Brent . This is an excellent opportunity for a housing professional with a strong background in tenancy management, tenancy sustainment, resident engagement, and safeguarding. This role is primarily site-based , with extensive travel across the borough visiting council tenants in their homes. As such, candidates must hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle . There is only limited opportunity to work from home . As the face of the council, you will play a vital role in delivering outstanding resident-focused services, supporting vulnerable tenants, identifying risks, and helping residents sustain successful tenancies. Key Responsibilities Lead and deliver a programme of home visits to council tenants across Brent. Complete detailed tenancy visit assessments and prescribed data collection forms. Conduct dynamic risk assessments within residents' homes, identifying health and safety concerns, including fire risks and evacuation challenges. Identify and address issues relating to damp, mould, disrepair, and poor property conditions, referring cases to relevant teams as appropriate. Provide residents with advice and realistic expectations regarding repairs and maintenance issues. Identify and report suspected tenancy fraud or breaches of tenancy conditions. Promote fire safety awareness, including testing smoke alarms and carbon monoxide devices. Identify vulnerabilities, safeguarding concerns, abuse, neglect, or welfare risks and ensure appropriate referrals and support are in place. Essential Requirements Knowledge & Qualifications Strong understanding of social housing and housing management services. Knowledge of landlord responsibilities and safeguarding obligations. CIH Level 3 qualification (or above) or equivalent housing management experience. Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, Fire Safety, Welfare and Employment issues. Understanding of GDPR and data protection requirements. Experience Previous experience working within a housing association, local authority, ALMO, or similar housing environment. Direct experience in a Visiting Officer, Tenancy Sustainment Officer, Housing Officer, Neighbourhood Officer, Resident Services Officer, or equivalent housing management role . Experience supporting vulnerable residents and managing complex tenancy issues. Experience carrying out home visits and resident assessments. Candidate Profile We are seeking a proactive and compassionate housing professional who can confidently work in residents' homes, identify support needs, manage risk, and deliver high-quality tenancy sustainment services. You will have a proven track record within social housing and be comfortable working independently across a designated patch. Please note: This role requires extensive travel across Brent and is predominantly site-based. Access to a car is essential, and home working opportunities are very limited.
