An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC Machinist (Miller) to join a specialist precision machining team supporting the manufacture of complex, high-value engineering components. Working within a modern CNC machine shop environment, you will be responsible for programming, setting, proving out and operating multi-axis CNC machining centres, producing prototype, R&D and low-volume production components to exacting quality standards. This role would suit a skilled machinist who enjoys working on technically challenging projects, developing machining processes, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within a high-precision engineering environment. Key Responsibilities Program, set and operate multi-axis CNC machining centres (3, 4 and 5-axis). Edit CNC programs and make tooling, offset and fixture adjustments as required. Select and optimise cutting tools to maximise efficiency and machining performance. Manufacture high-value prototype, R&D and low-volume production components. Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and manufacturing procedures. Inspect components using measuring equipment, hand gauges and CMM inspection data. Support the development of machining processes, tooling and fixture designs. Work closely with engineering teams to improve machining methods and manufacturing efficiency. Troubleshoot machining and process-related issues, implementing corrective actions where required. Produce and maintain accurate manufacturing documentation and work instructions. Mentor and support apprentices and junior team members. Contribute to Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement activities. Skills & Experience Essential Proven experience programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines. Strong knowledge of multi-axis machining (3, 4 and 5-axis). Experience with Heidenhain and Fanuc controls. Ability to edit CNC programs and prove out new jobs. Strong understanding of tooling selection, optimisation and work holding methods. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. Experience using precision measuring equipment and interpreting inspection data. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Experience working within a precision engineering or advanced manufacturing environment. Desirable Experience supporting CNC turning operations. Experience machining prototype and R&D components. Knowledge of tooling and fixture design. Experience creating work instructions and process documentation. Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and 6S methodologies. Experience implementing process improvements and corrective actions.
