Our client is a regulated Law firm, based in Leeds and the business operates within a hybrid structure of 2 days in the office. We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join their growing team. This is a varied and pivotal role, providing vital support to dozens of consultant solicitors. You won't be pigeonholed into one specific area of law. Instead, you'll be the 'go-to' resource for a wide range of legal and administrative tasks, primarily focusing on onboarding new clients, compliance, and ongoing matter administration. This is the perfect role for someone who enjoys a varied workload and has the independence to manage their own tasks without the micromanagement of a traditional law firm. Key Responsibilities: Client Onboarding & Compliance: Take the lead on client onboarding, performing essential compliance checks (AML, KYC, Source of Funds). Ensure all new files are opened accurately and efficiently in their system. Varied Administrative Support: Handle requests from consultants, which will be variable and span different areas of law including Commercial Property and Private Client (Wills, Probate, LPAs). You won't be expected to be an expert in everything, but a keen eye for detail and form-filling is essential. Case & Document Management: Assist with post-completion work, including Land Registry applications and SDLT submissions. Manage reminders and alert systems, proactively tracking outstanding actions to ensure compliance. Prepare routine correspondence and legal documents with high accuracy. Communication & Coordination: Act as a central point of contact, liaising with clients, consultants, and third parties to progress matters. Build strong relationships with the wider team to ensure smooth workflows. We aren't just looking to recruit someone to complete tasks; we need a problem-solver who can think on their feet. Essential Experience & Skills: Legal Experience: You have worked in a legal office environment and understand the processes involved in onboarding and compliance. Whether you have a background in conveyancing, private client, or as a legal secretary, you understand the terminology and the regulated environment we operate in. Independence: You are confident working autonomously. You won't always have a supervisor looking over your shoulder, but you will know when to ask for help. Attention to Detail: Accuracy is non-negotiable, especially when it comes to compliance and legal forms. Organisational Skills: You can juggle multiple tasks and prioritise your workload effectively to meet deadlines. Communication: You are an excellent communicator who can build rapport with internal colleagues and external contacts. Personality Fit: We are looking for someone with a proactive and curious mindset. You don't wait to be told what to do; you see a potential problem and look for a solution. A positive, collaborative, and client-focused approach is a must. How to Apply: Our client is recruiting now, so please do not delay. If this role sounds ideal for your next move, send us your CV or contact us immediately. We cannot reply to every individual application, however if your experience fits the above criteria, we will make immediate contact.
