You will oversee system and database administration activities, ensuring performance, resilience, capacity and recovery requirements are consistently met. You will also be responsible for supporting disaster recovery planning, business continuity testing and the successful delivery of complex system changes and releases.Working closely with development, infrastructure, security teams and third-party suppliers, you will represent IT Operations across a range of technical and governance forums. You will also contribute to the growth of the wider team by mentoring colleagues, sharing knowledge and promoting best practice across technology operations. What You'll Need to Succeed To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience within IT Operations, Infrastructure or Production Support environments, ideally supporting business-critical systems within a regulated organisation. You will possess strong incident management experience and be confident leading technical discussions during high-pressure situations. Experience working with mainframe technologies, particularly Unisys environments, alongside strong SQL Server administration skills including performance tuning, troubleshooting, backup and recovery processes, will be highly beneficial. You will also have experience supporting Windows environments, PowerShell scripting, and Azure DevOps. A strong understanding of job scheduling platforms, monitoring tools and automation principles is essential, together with a solid appreciation of ITIL and ITSM frameworks.The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive approach to continuous improvement, risk management and service reliability, while also having the ability to mentor and develop less experienced colleagues. Professional certifications within ITIL or related disciplines would be advantageous, as would experience delivering large-scale automation and operational improvement programmes.
