Product Delivery Manager - Material & Environmental Engineering Contract: Initial 6 Months Day Rate: Circa 600 Inside IR35 Location: Hybrid (Reading as required) Start Date: ASAP Security Clearance: Active SC clearance We are looking for an experienced Product Delivery Manager - Material & Environmental Engineering to lead the delivery and continuous improvement of digital capabilities supporting materials management, product compliance, and environmental sustainability within a complex aerospace and defence environment. This is a strategic role combining materials engineering, environmental compliance, digital engineering, and product delivery. You will shape the digital toolchains, data environments, and processes that support materials selection and allowables, material and process specifications, batch pedigree and traceability, obsolescence, restricted substances, corrosion and compatibility, coatings and finishes, and environmental compliance. Key Responsibilities Own the delivery and continuous improvement of Material Management and Product Environmental digital capabilities. Lead the development and optimisation of digital solutions covering materials databases, allowables, specifications, process records, batch pedigree, certificates, compliance data, and sustainability reporting. Develop product roadmaps, delivery plans, and prioritised backlogs aligned with engineering and programme requirements. Enable integration with the wider Digital Thread, providing end-to-end traceability from requirements and material selection through manufacturing, testing, and compliance evidence. Support digital workflows for materials selection, corrosion and compatibility, coatings and finishes, restricted substances, and obsolescence management. Establish technical baselines, methodologies, data models, and work instructions. Ensure digital solutions meet agreed quality, security, performance, airworthiness, and environmental compliance requirements. Capture, challenge, and consolidate requirements across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and other stakeholders. Drive adoption of new digital tools and processes through training, change management, and stakeholder engagement. Define appropriate access models, data governance, metadata standards, and controls for sensitive engineering and environmental information. Coordinate delivery across internal teams, suppliers, and system integrators. Monitor service performance, risks, technical debt, capacity, and dependencies. Drive incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement. Support vendor management, contract performance, licence optimisation, and technology evaluations. Identify opportunities for innovation in digital material pedigree, automated allowables integration, sustainability analytics, compliance dashboards, and evidence generation. Manage upgrades, enhancements, and decommissioning across the digital product lifecycle. Skills & Experience Degree in Materials Science, Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Experience delivering digital engineering capabilities related to materials management and/or product environmental compliance. Experience within the Aerospace and/or Defence industry, with an understanding of regulated and safety-critical environments. Strong understanding of areas such as materials databases and allowables, material/process specifications, batch traceability, certificates, environmental compliance, and sustainability data. Strong knowledge of Digital Engineering, Model-Based Engineering, and Digital Thread principles. Experience managing complex delivery involving multiple stakeholders, suppliers, and distributed teams. Strong project, programme, or service management experience. ITIL, APM, or PRINCE2 qualifications are advantageous. Experience with SAFe or Agile delivery methodologies. Strong understanding of materials engineering and environmental compliance, including restricted substances, obsolescence, corrosion, compatibility, coatings, and finishes. Knowledge of REACH, RoHS, PFAS reduction, conflict minerals, and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Experience managing suppliers and technology partners supporting materials databases, process/specification management, test data, and environmental compliance platforms. Understanding of aerospace materials assurance, material allowables, conformity records, material pedigree, and environmental declarations.
