The Role The Operational Technology Engineer will be responsible for the full lifecycle delivery of OT projects, from initial concept through to implementation and ongoing support. Key responsibilities will include: Developing project concepts, specifications and technical solutions. Designing and implementing automation, control and OT infrastructure. Managing procurement, contractors, installation and commissioning activities. Managing project budgets, timelines and resources. Providing technical leadership and governance across OT and process control systems. Working closely with IT, engineering, production, maintenance and other operational stakeholders. Supporting operational reliability, business continuity and asset performance. Ensuring OT systems meet relevant cyber security and compliance requirements. The Person My client is looking for an individual with a strong background in industrial automation, control engineering or Operational Technology who is comfortable working autonomously and taking ownership of projects from concept through to completion. The successful candidate will ideally have: A Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or a related discipline. Proven experience delivering industrial automation and/or Operational Technology projects. Advanced knowledge of PLC, HMI and SCADA systems . Strong knowledge of instrumentation principles, configuration and calibration. Experience with industrial communication protocols including: Profinet Profibus Ethernet/IP Modbus RTU & TCP OPC UA A strong understanding of industrial networks, control systems and OT infrastructure. Experience in commissioning, troubleshooting and maintaining industrial automation systems. An understanding of OT cyber security and system resilience.
