Job Purpose The Potting Room Production Operative is responsible for carrying out the potting, encapsulation, and associated assembly processes used in the manufacture of gas detection equipment. The role involves preparing components and materials, operating potting equipment, and ensuring products are assembled and encapsulated to the required quality and production standards. Key Responsibilities Prepare components, materials, moulds, and equipment for the potting process. Accurately measure, mix, and apply potting compounds in accordance with approved work instructions. Operate potting and dispensing equipment safely and effectively. Assemble and position electronic components prior to encapsulation. Ensure components are correctly aligned and positioned before potting. Monitor curing times and environmental conditions to ensure product quality. Inspect completed units for defects, air bubbles, voids, contamination, or other quality issues. Carry out visual and dimensional checks in accordance with production procedures. Complete production records, inspection sheets, and traceability documentation accurately. Follow drawings, specifications, work instructions, and standard operating procedures. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe potting room environment. Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas as required. Report quality issues, equipment faults, material shortages, or process deviations to the appropriate supervisor. Follow all company health and safety, quality, and environmental requirements. Work closely with colleagues in production, quality, and engineering to meet production targets. Support continuous improvement activities within the production area. Skills and Experience Previous manufacturing or production experience is desirable. Experience working with electronic or precision components would be advantageous.
