The Role Based at our modern Head Office in Huddersfield, this a fantastic opportunity for a Building Surveyor/Contract Administrator to join our growing Contract Administration Team made up of Building Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers of varying experience from university graduates to more senior qualified professionals. Candidates should be both a team player with determination to drive projects forwards whilst also having the ability to work independently to achieve results. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' relevant post degree experience and will be either Chartered or intending to sit their final assessment at the next sitting. You will enjoy a varied workload including the opportunity to act as Contract Administrator, preparation of specifications and schedules of work, site inspections, quality management, attending site meetings, cost control, design co-ordination, CDM Consultant/Principal Designer duties, Party Wall Act surveys and property surveys. In addition to the operational aspects, you will hold some line management and mentoring responsibilities for more junior members of the team. Key operational/Project management duties including: Understanding our agreed scope of services/project briefs. Building and maintaining brilliant relationships with various clients Manage all aspects of project communication including administration activities such as issuing notices and certificates Manage contractors on site via visits and project meetings Plan resource needs against project programme and deliverables. Ensure Quality Assurance procedures are followed, including key deliverables at each Stage. Ensure project issues are dealt with in a timely manner, to the client's satisfaction. These are early-career commercial roles, ideally suited to a graduate quantity surveyor looking for their second position, someone who has had a solid grounding in NEC contract administration and now wants more: more complexity, more exposure, and a clear path toward chartership. What the role involves You will work in an integrated client team, sitting alongside project managers and commercial leads to assure and support the commercial performance of Tier 1 contractors. That means reviewing their work, not doing it for them. You will administer NEC contracts day to day, raise and manage early warnings, track compensation events and support the assessment of change costs. You will get involved in procurement reviews, help validate subcontractor accounts and support the settlement of final accounts.
