You will carry out positional welding on structural steel, undertake tacking, marking out, jigging and fabrication activities, and ensure all work is completed to the required quality standards. The role involves monitoring fitting, burning and welding processes to prevent overheating, distortion, shrinking, warping or expansion of materials. You will examine completed work for defects and use measuring equipment, straightedges and templates to ensure compliance with engineering specifications. Following technical drawings, standard operating procedures and bills of materials is a key part of the position. You will be required to prepare and fabricate metal components ready for welding and operate workshop equipment including chop saws, iron workers, pillar drills and linishers. Working safely in an extracted environment using Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) systems and appropriate PPE is essential. Daily responsibilities will also include carrying out pre-use machinery inspections to minimise equipment failures and maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment. Skills and Experience Applicants should hold a Level 3 Welding Qualification or possess equivalent industry experience. Previous experience within a fabrication and welding environment is essential, along with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation. You should be IT literate and comfortable using ERP systems, Microsoft Excel and email. Experience using handheld barcode or QR code scanners would be advantageous. A strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to manage workloads effectively in a fast-paced environment are all key requirements for this role. We are looking for someone who is physically fit, proactive, dependable and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. Strong problem-solving abilities, a positive attitude and personal integrity are essential. Working Hours 39 hours per week.
