Engineering Lead
FLOCK
A BIT ABOUT FLOCK At Flock we do insurance very differently. We're nearing 1 billion connected, insured miles. Meaning our real-time, data-driven approach enables us to price connected vehicle insurance and assess risk better than ever before, giving fleet owners the insights they need to improve safety. We don't just pay claims; we help our customers prevent them. We now insure hundreds of fleets in the UK, including the likes of Amazon, DPD, Uber and Bolt. We've now raised over £50M and our goal is to become the leading insurance company for connected and autonomous vehicles, and we're building a world-class team to help us get there. We're an AI-first business, so whatever the role, we want people who reach for AI by default, stay curious about what it can do, and use it to work faster and think bigger. THE ROLE Engineering Lead for the Acquisition team. You'll work closely with the PM to lead the team toward its goals, owning delivery, operational reliability and developer experience. You'll ship production code and provide technical coaching and leadership to the engineers around you, not line management. You'll also shape how the team uses AI tools and coding agents to ship faster without lowering the quality bar. WHAT WE THINK IS MOST EXCITING ABOUT THE ROLE: Lead a team building products that directly drive Flock's growth Own delivery and technical quality for the Acquisition team, working hand in hand with the PM to ship features that directly impact how fleets find and choose Flock. Write high-quality, well-tested TypeScript and own end-to-end delivery to production Partner with product to drive impact Work closely with the PM, the Engineering Leadership Team and stakeholders to translate business goals into clear technical scope, success metrics and delivery plans. Grow engineers around you Lead by example through code, design discussions and pairing. Coach and mentor engineers across the team to raise standards and share ownership of technical direction. Shape how the team works, not just what it builds Drive improvements to developer experience, CI/CD, observability and release practices that make the whole team faster and more confident. Make pragmatic trade-offs that balance reliability, performance and cost across AWS services. Decide how the team uses AI, from coding assistants to agent workflows in review and release, keeping engineering judgement where it matters. Curious how we build the future of fleet insurance? Dive into our Product & Engineering Blog, packed with technical deep-dives, behind-the-scenes stories, and real insights from the team you'd be joining. A LITTLE MORE ON WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: As an Engineering Lead at Flock you'll own delivery and technical direction for the Acquisition team, co-leading with the PM to ship products that directly drive growth, while raising the bar for the engineers around you. API-Driven Development Integrate with and contribute to the development of RESTful APIs exposed via API Gateway. Serverless & Cloud Infrastructure Use your AWS experience (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, EventBridge, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch) to support and extend the Acquisition team's services and pipelines. Work with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CDK for provisioning and managing cloud resources. Collaboration & Agile Delivery Co-own the team's success with the PM, jointly leading projects from scoping and planning through to delivery and measuring impact. Give engineers the space and ownership to lead projects themselves, asking the right questions to challenge their thinking and help them land on the right solution. Code Quality & Technical Standards Deliver high-quality, well-tested code and act as a force-multiplier, raising standards through code reviews, pairing and design discussions. Champion practical testing, type-safe APIs and pragmatic patterns that shape long-term technical direction across the team. Set the example on AI-assisted development and coach engineers on where it genuinely speeds the team up and where human judgement needs to stay in the loop. Working closely with your PM, you'll bring clarity to complex problems and help define sharply scoped, impactful deliverables. Your success won't be measured by your own output alone, but by the output, quality and growth of the whole team around you. WHAT YOU'll BRING TO FLOCK: ESSENTIAL Proven ability to co-lead a team alongside a PM, taking joint ownership of delivery, quality and outcomes, not just your own output. Strong hands-on engineering ability; comfortable shipping high-quality, well-tested TypeScript in production and holding the team to the same standard. Significant experience with AWS and modern serverless (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, EventBridge, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch) or other cloud platforms. A pragmatic approach to technical decisions, balancing reliability, observability, performance and cost, and bringing engineers along on the reasoning. Track record of raising engineering standards as a force-multiplier, through code reviews, pairing, design discussions and shaping long-term technical direction. Strong communication skills; able to represent the team upwards and translate business goals into clear technical scope and delivery plans. Experience improving developer experience, CI/CD, release practices and delivery cadence across a team. Confident using AI development tools every day, with experience of helping a team adopt them without letting quality slip. PREFERABLE Experience aligning technical direction beyond your immediate team, working with senior stakeholders and other leads to shape how engineering works at a broader level. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CDK, with a track record of improving operational resilience through observability, runbooks and automated recovery. Practical experience designing event-driven, distributed systems and navigating the trade-offs that come with eventual consistency at scale. Background in a fast-moving, product-led environment where commercial impact drives decisions and adapting quickly is part of the job. A track record of creating the conditions for engineers to step up, not just mentoring but actively giving ownership and space to grow. WHAT WE OFFER (in addition to a competitive salary) 25 days of holiday (+ Bank Holidays) Share Incentive Plan Workplace Pension Private Medical Insurance (including Optical & Mental Health ️ support options) Various Salary Sacrifice Schemes - Holiday Purchase, Tech, Gym, Cycle to Work, Electric Vehicle, Private Medical Insurance for families Enhanced Parental Leave and Pay £1000 toward relevant professional qualifications £500 per annum towards learning and development 3 days paid leave for L&D purposes At Flock, we typically follow a hybrid working model involving a minimum of 3 days per week spent in the office, which is based in Central London, a few minutes walk from Moorgate and Liverpool Street. Please note if your role involves visit to client sites and broker offices, then this can be substituted for office days. ONE LAST THING Authenticity is important to us. We value the unique qualities and experiences you bring. So if you apply, just be your genuine self. It's who we want!

Head of Distribution Property MGA UK-based with regular broker travel £85,000 + future bonus and equity opportunity Are you an experienced property insurance professional who knows how to open doors, build influential broker relationships and turn a distribution strategy into profitable GWP? This is an opportunity to join the founding leadership team of an ambitious new Property MGA and build its distribution function from the ground up. Working alongside the Chief Underwriting Officer and Head of Underwriting, you will have genuine influence over the broker proposition, underwriting strategy and future direction of the business. There is no rigid corporate playbook waiting for you. You will identify the right broker partners, create the distribution strategy and establish how opportunities are measured, developed and converted. The opportunity As Head of Distribution, you will take ownership of broker development across the UK. You will build relationships with regional, independent and national commercial brokers, identify profitable books and schemes, and develop partnerships capable of delivering sustainable growth. This is not simply a diary-filling broker development role. You will be expected to understand the commercial impact of your activity, identify which relationships are producing results and change the approach when something is not working. When money is invested in networking, hospitality or industry events, you should be able to demonstrate how that activity translates into opportunities, pipeline and GWP. Where the return is not there, you will recommend a smarter approach. You will also have input into underwriting decisions, helping ensure the distribution strategy remains aligned with appetite, capacity and profitability. As part of the senior leadership team, you may attend occasional capacity meetings, giving you a broader understanding of how the MGA is built, funded and scaled.
