The severe accident analysis team develops models of the reactor plant and containment and uses these to conduct technical analysis of the behaviour of the reactor plant in severe accident scenarios. The results of these simulations are used to: Derive design requirements for reactor containment structures and associated components under severe accident conditions. Assess radiological consequences in support of safety cases and meeting regulatory requirements such as REPPIR. Support our enterprise partners through bespoke severe accident assessments of our existing and future products. Undertake verification and validation activities of severe accident codes and models.
