Job Role: Quality Manager Contract: Permanent Location: Cheltenham We are currently recruiting for High-end precision engineering advanced manufacturing company with emphasis on difficult, high-integrity work. There is predominantly for the aerospace and defence industry. Job responsibilities of a Quality Manager: Ensure the company s products meet internal and external quality standards, including AS9100, ISO 9001, and NADCAP requirements. Maintain and update the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with industry-specific standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Promote awareness of customer and regulatory requirements throughout the organisation. Report to top management on QMS performance and areas for improvement. Liaise with external auditors and certification bodies to maintain accreditations. Oversee all inspection activities, including visual, manual, and CMM checks, ensuring product conformance. Establish and enforce inspection methodologies, prioritising manual verification in case of CMM non-conformance. Ensure accurate reporting of First Part Yield (FPY), rework rates, and non-conformance trends. Implement and monitor KPIs for quality control, including scrap and rework analysis. Manage the NCR process, ensuring timely documentation, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions. Lead structured problem-solving initiatives using methodologies such as 8D, Fishbone, and 5 Whys. Work closely with engineering and production teams to prevent recurrence of issues. Evaluate, monitor, and audit suppliers to ensure compliance with quality standards. Oversee supplier qualification and performance management, ensuring conformance to required specifications. Support the Supply Chain Manager in maintaining a robust supplier approval and review process. Plan, coordinate, and conduct internal audits to verify QMS effectiveness and compliance. Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality, reducing defect rates, and improving process efficiency. Analyse quality performance data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and corrective actions. Ensure top management undertakes periodic assessments of customer satisfaction and implements improvements as required. Ensure new employees receive appropriate training on QMS requirements relevant to their roles. Provide ongoing quality-related training and awareness programs for staff. Maintain and oversee the document control system, ensuring timely updates and accuracy of quality documentation. Digitise quality records and implement software solutions to enhance document traceability and access. An ideal candidate for the Quality Manager would have: Proven experience in quality management within aerospace, defence, or precision engineering environments. Strong knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and NADCAP accreditation processes. Hands-on experience with quality control methods, including CMM programming and manual inspection techniques. Background in supplier quality management, auditing, and non-conformance resolution. Demonstrated ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives using structured problem-solving methodologies. Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field. Lead Auditor Certification (AS9100, ISO 9001) preferred. Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification is an advantage. Proficiency in quality management software and ERP systems. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally across departments.
