We are recruiting a Private Sector Housing Manager to join a well-established social housing group in Essex. As a Private Sector Housing Manager, you will lead a high-performing team, overseeing enforcement, regulatory delivery, and service improvement while ensuring compliance and high professional standards across the service. This is a senior leadership opportunity offering real scope to influence direction and drive meaningful change. Private Sector Housing Manager key responsibilities include: Acting as the organisations technical lead for private sector housing policy and enforcement Managing and mentoring an experienced team of officers Ensuring all performance and service targets are met across the Private Sector Housing service Overseeing delivery and assurance of the Renters Rights Act and embedding best practice Developing staff to reach their full potential through strong, visible leadership Ensuring all regulatory activity is completed to required professional and organisational standards Private sector housing work will include (but is not limited to): HMO licensing and compliance Civil penalties and enforcement action Housing Act powers and statutory interventions Safeguarding and vulnerability case management Regulatory programme oversight Partnership working with Legal, NHS colleagues, landlords, and regional networks Service improvement and policy development Budget and resource management You will demonstrate strong leadership skills, sound professional judgement, and a genuine commitment to improving housing standards and protecting residents.
