Trust profile Dorset County Hospital was established in 1991 as part of a long-term project to bring together all the local services for acutely ill patients onto one hospital site. Our hospital, just outside Dorchester town centre, was completed in 1997. We were awarded Foundation Trust status in June 2007. Our busy, modern hospital provides a full range of district general services, including an Emergency Department, and links with satellite units in five community hospitals. We are the main provider of acute hospital services to a population of around 300,000, living within Weymouth and Portland, the west and north of Dorset, and Purbeck. We also provide renal services for patients throughout Dorset and South Somerset; a total population of 850,000. Our 3,500 members of staff work across various locations, including the main hospital in Dorchester, GP surgeries, schools, residential homes, people's own homes and in the community hospitals. Client - Dorset County Hospital NHS FT Subdiscipline - Fracture Clinic Site - Dorset County Hospital Department - Orthopaedic Plaster Room Grade/Job Title - Band 5 Orthopaedic Practitioner / Plaster Technician This is a 37.5 hour post working in Fracture Clinic. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing individual patient care needs and developing, implementing and evaluating plans of care in accordance with agreed policies and professional guidelines and providing a plastering service for the orthopaedic ward, clinics, theatres, fracture clinics and Emergency department. Work autonomously undertaking holistic assessment examination in order to implement management plans for patients. Use specialist knowledge and skills to provide treatment to patients attending the Plaster Room and to assist the Lead Orthopaedic Practitioner on the development of new and current services. To work closely with the Lead Nurse, Managers and the Multidisciplinary Team to provide high quality and cost-effective patient focused services. Participate in the delivery of formal and informal teaching and act as a resource for education and development within the service To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service Must have BOA Casting Certificate and with excellent communication skills to work as part of the Fracture Clinic team.
