Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Location: Leicester Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 Shift Type: Days - Monday to Thursday 08:00-16:30, Friday 08:00-14:00 Benefits: Early Friday finish, stable manufacturing environment, continuous improvement culture, long-term development opportunities The Opportunity An established precision manufacturing business is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support operational performance, new product introduction and continuous improvement across a high-precision machining environment.This role will suit a proactive engineer with strong CNC, process engineering and problem-solving capability, ideally gained within aerospace or automotive manufacturing.You will play a key role in improving flow, quality, cost and delivery while supporting production teams and driving robust engineering standards. Key Responsibilities Lead manufacturing engineering actions arising from daily operations meetings. Analyse process constraints and support value stream flow improvements. Create and maintain controlled manufacturing documentation including setup packs, SOPs, work instructions and stage drawings. Own Manufacturing Engineering deliverables within the NPDI gated process, including cost estimates, routings and customer approvals. Ensure tooling and fixturing is designed, validated and available to support safe and efficient production. Develop, validate and optimise CNC programs to achieve quality and cycle time targets. Drive continuous improvement activity through LEAN and GEMBA initiatives. Apply structured problem-solving methodologies to eliminate root cause issues. Support PFMEA activities, technology improvements and supplier engagement. Participate in internal and external audits and implement corrective actions where required. Candidate Requirements Experience within an aerospace or automotive manufacturing environment. HND or higher qualification in Engineering or a related discipline. Strong knowledge of CNC machining and manufacturing processes. Demonstrable experience defining methods of manufacture for complex products and assemblies. Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings. CAD/CAM experience advantageous (SolidWorks/CAM preferred). Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project). Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities. A structured, continuous improvement mindset with strong problem-solving capability.
