Controls Service Engineer x4 Telford Base to c 55k + 4,800 car allowance + overtime + benefits Our Telford based client has been established for almost 20 years and are recognised as leading providers of all aspects of hardware and software design through to robot systems integration and commission on a range of bespoke automation solutions for supply to a diverse range of clients throughout the UK, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit four experienced Controls Service Engineer professionals to support Siemens PLC controlled Automation solutions both remotely and at customer sites throughout the UK. Reporting to the Service Manager and tasked with a combination of both planned preventative and reactive service and repair activities as well as providing out of hours stand by support on a fortnight-around support rota, the successful Controls Service Engineer candidates will initially provide remote or telephone assistance before escalating repairs to an on-site visit where required, so it is essential you hold a full UK driving licence and can be flexible to travel as required. With excellent organisational and communication skills at all levels, as a Controls Service Engineer you will also support the activities of fellow team members when required and ensure compliance with relevant H&S legislation as applicable and be able to complete detailed service action summaries to be retained for future visits as required. With strong problem-solving skills across multiple engineering disciplines, essentially you will demonstrate exhaustive Siemens PLC fault find, modification and debug skills as well as solid hardware fault-finding and resolution abilities - such as damaged cable repair or faulty device replacement from spares held at sites. It is envisaged successful candidates will realistically have at least 3+ years' experience of Siemens TIA portal, with additional experience in Profinet fault finding proving distinctly advantageous, and with experience of working in highly automated environments also proving beneficial. This role reports directly to the Operations Manager (OM). Key Responsibilities for Field Service Engineer Perform regular inspection, preventative maintenance, annual capacity tests, troubleshooting, and reactive maintenance on BESS units. Conduct commissioning activities on new and upgraded BESS systems. Monitor system performance, analyze operational data, and provide recommendations. Perform system software and firmware upgrades. Provide remote diagnostics and phone support to customers as required. Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electromechanical equipment at BESS sites. Manage spare parts inventory and ensure availability for field work. Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures in line with local and site regulations. Maintain accurate administrative records including timesheets, daily vehicle checks, and service reports documenting issues and actions taken.
