A B COLEMAN - SKILLED ARABLE OPERATOR JOB SPECIFICATION Job Title: Skilled Arable Operator - 600ac (240ha) mixed farm, predominantly arable with 40 strong Hereford suckler herd and other diversifications Location: North Yorkshire, Filey Reports to: Tim Coleman Employment Type: Full-time, permanent Remuneration: Competitive Salary, Pension, 24 days holiday per year, Potential for relocation package About Us: A B Coleman is a family farming partnership comprising Tim, Janet and Polly Coleman. As a family farming business, we are an established, forward thinking and progressive business with the aim to have all parts of the farm working collaboratively to run a successful and sustainable business for many years to come. Role Overview We are seeking a proactive skilled arable operator who will have the autonomy to carry out the day-to-day operations on our mixed farm. Our farm comprises predominantly arable farmland with cropping including cereals, oilseed rape and potatoes. Alongside the arable enterprise we have a 40 strong herd of Hereford suckler cows. The farm also has diversified enterprises to include self-storage containers and a dog walking field. The successful candidate will take a hands-on approach and be proactive to oversee all aspects of the farm work and assist with the livestock and other enterprises on the farm. Being enthusiastic, entrepreneurial and a self-starter is key to being successful in this role. The farm has modern machinery and includes a Claas Lexion 650 (25ft), Sands self-propelled sprayer, New Holland T7 270, Valtra T235, 5 furrow plough, a 4m combination drill and a John Deere Gator (on tracks) with avadex applicator. Key Responsibilities All farm work including combining, spraying and general tractor work as well as assisting with the management of the suckler herd feeding and welfare. Key Qualifications & Skills Spraying tickets - PA1, PA2, PA4 and PA6. BASIS & FACTS desirable but training can be provided for the right candidate. Excellent communication skills. We are recruiting on behalf of our client in Elloughton an enthusiastic individual to take on the role of Spray Operator. The role will report to the Growing Manager and will focus predominantly on the day to day spraying of crops. This role will ensure all spray applications comply with legislation and policies and procedures. You will be required to maintain the spray equipment to enable optimum application and to report any equipment faults. Other responsibilities will also include: Filling in all paperwork and records in a neat manner that is required legally Maintain all PPE Ensure training courses are attended and sufficient CPD points are obtained to satisfy NROSO membership The Working hours will be 39 per week, spread between Spraying and other jobs when spraying is not available. Due to the nature of this role flexibility with working times is essential and some weekend and evening work will be required. Applicants should have, or be willing to undertake training to gain, the certificates in PA1 and PA6 pesticide application. Once these certificates are gained you will be required to be a member of NROSO. Experience of using robotic spray equipment would also be an advantage but training will be provided
